What We Do
From Glass Slide to Digital Asset
The Hub digitises conventional histopathology slides on an Evident VS200 whole slide scanner. Once digitised, a slide can be viewed, annotated, measured, shared and archived without the glass ever leaving the building.
Whole Slide Imaging
High-resolution digitisation of H&E, special stain and IHC slides at 10x, 20x or 40x. Brightfield and fluorescence, with colour fidelity preserved for diagnostic review.
Teaching & Virtual Microscopy
Digital slide sets for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. One slide viewed simultaneously by an entire class, in the venue or remotely.
Research Support
Digitisation for pathology, oncology, infectious disease and biomedical projects, including cohort scanning and image sets prepared for quantitative analysis.
Publication Imaging
Publication-quality micrographs and figure panels for journals, theses and textbooks, exported at the resolution your target journal requires.
Digital Consultation
Share a whole slide image with a colleague or specialist anywhere in the world for second opinion and multidisciplinary discussion, with no glass in transit.
Archiving & Retrieval
Digitisation of teaching collections and rare cases, so a fading or breakable slide survives as a permanent, searchable digital record.
Technology
Evident VS200 Whole Slide Scanner
A research-grade scanner supporting brightfield and fluorescence imaging. Three choices determine scan time, file size and cost.
Magnification
10x for overview and low-power morphology, smallest files.
20x for most histology and teaching sets.
40x for cytological detail, nuclear features and small organisms.
Imaging Mode
Flat is fast and standard, 2 to 4 GB per slide.
EFI handles uneven or thick sections, 4 to 12 GB.
Z-stack preserves focal planes, 12 GB or more.
Output & Storage
Images are produced in .vsi format. Online access can be arranged for 30 days, 3 months, 6 months or 1 year, with storage costs for the period selected.
